The spread inside the county is $17.23 per $1,000, so on the same $300,000 assessment a Raymond owner is billed $5,169.00 more than a New Castle owner. That gap is not all real money: each town assesses at its own share of market value, so the rate comparison is only fair between towns whose equalization ratios are close. The guide to how rates are set explains what goes into each one.

The median Rockingham County rate moved from $16.14 in 2024 to $14.47 in 2025. 23 of the county's municipalities raised their total rate and 13 lowered it. Together the county's towns and cities carry $88,390,520,399 of assessed valuation including utilities and billed $1,282,644,698 in 2025 property tax, about $4,083 per resident on 2020 census counts.

The median parts of a Rockingham County rate are municipal $3.51, county $0.61, local school $10.07 and state education $1.11. The county rate pays for the one Rockingham County budget, but it is not one number on bills: each town pays its share of the county tax "according to their proportion of public taxes" (RSA 29:11), and that share is then spread over the town's own assessed valuation, so the per-$1,000 county rate runs from $0.52 to $0.88 across Rockingham County.
